The electric cars of the year

Here we go! electricar , the magazine for tomorrow's mobility, in cooperation with the Institute for New Mobility, is honoring the best electric models in all categories. BEST IN CLASS is the new specialist award for electric cars. From light vehicles to luxury SUVs, the outstanding electric vehicles will be honored – and across all categories, the best electric car of the year will also be honored.

BEST IN CLASS: The winners are selected by a jury of renowned experts. They select and evaluate all electric cars offered in Germany based on their specifications. Efficiency and sustainability are just as important as performance, comfort, and quality.

All award winners will be announced and duly celebrated at a major event at the e4 Testival at the Hockenheimring at the end of October. BEST IN CLASS – the best electric cars of the year.

Best in Class Award 2025:
the finalists of all twelve categories

The Best in Class Award was launched by electricar in cooperation with the Institute for New Mobility (INM). Ten models were nominated based on hard facts in each of seven categories (small cars to luxury cars, as well as SUVs and light vehicles). Companies were also able to submit their own entries in five additional categories (design, city car, family car, fleet vehicle, and pioneer of the mobility transition).

From the nominees, the jury finally selected five finalists per category, from which the winner of each class was then chosen.

And from the winners of each individual category (with the exception of the "Pioneer of the Mobility Transition" category), the "Best E-Car 2025" will be determined.

Here we provide links to the finalists in the twelve categories. Typically, there are five finalists per category, but for the Pioneers of the Mobility Transition category, we agreed to allow ten finalists.
